Caring Tips

Watering

Water thoroughly during the growing season but less so in the winter. Keep moist but do not allow to stand in water. Bird's Nest Ferns are best watered around edge, directly onto the soil, as pouring into the crown may cause it to rot.

Light

The Mother Fern prefers moderate, indirect light. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight and deep shade. An east or north-facing window will serve the fern best. Asplenium Parvati benefits from cool to average household temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid draughts.

PLANT INFO

The Asplenium Parvati has very distinctive, thick, dark green fronds, which are quite different from any others. The leaves are hardy and shiny giving the plant an extremely robust nature, making it very forgiving of periods of drought, dry air conditions and temperature fluctuations.
This Asplenium hybrid was created by Chris Goudey of Austral Ferns in Victoria, Australia. It’s technical Latin name is Asplenium dimorphum x difforme (x Parvati) and it is also sometimes known as Asplenium ‘Austral Gem’.
